I think this speaks to the housing affordability crisis that has artificially been created in Melbourne (and other Australian cities) by super funds speculating in real estate.
So enters Courtney Barnett to explain the situation with her unique style of silver tone guitar, incisive half sung/half spoken word lyrics. Then something really strikes you about this young woman, she actually seems authentic, apparently no make up, jeans and t shirt sensibility. She is almost a reaction to utterly plasticized corporate controlled music and pop culture of the last three decades.
But I guess you would have to be authentic to say, “Hey buying a house is going to be a hell of a struggle in Melbourne right now” rather than the oh so standard response of people just grinning and bearing it to keep up appearances. Thanks for singing about something that really resonates with a lot of people.
Courtney Barnett: More likely to meet Christopher Walken, than put a down payment on a flat in Brunswick.
I went to Rainbow Serpent Festival. Less than an hour later I left.
By the time they asked me for my ticket I was about to ask for a refund, the only reason I didn’t ask is because I knew they would refuse. I mean the place basically looks like a tarted up disaster relief camp. And just like a third world economy where one would expect such squalor, the rulers of it all were taking in about a million dollars a day. Worst of all the only thing that people weren’t being forced to pay for was using the toilets. Showers $4, after paying $100- $300 just to be there they want you to pay for a shower. That’s real third world warlord stuff right there. Just really greedy narrow minded pricks at the top.
Why is it so shit?
Basically its microcosm of the world around it, the organizers know no real alternative vision apart from lining their own pockets.
Private fiefdom and police state
They actually searched every car going in creating delays and basically being obtrusive. They absolutely refused anyone to be able to cook for them selves, no fires, no gas bottles.
Of course this is so they have a captive market for food stalls that they can get ground rent for. Absolutely no one could sell anything with out permission and paying the fee in order to do so.
An hour waiting to get in.
Their schedule (a glorified excel spreadsheet) lists sunset at 5:30, really?
Overbearing rude security guards
These fucktards seem to get off casually throwing out dictates at whim and generally mouthing off.
fuck off signs every where
After the onslaught of an hour waiting to get into the place the rude security guards and the fuck off signs seemingly everywhere ( artists only, organizers only) you then realize it nothing more than a small closed and controlled economy. The only respite from miserable oppression would be getting drunk and stoned, but sadly not even this is safe with police patrolling and waiting to pounce on people with drug and booze buses
Inviting the police to a festival where people like to use recreational drugs
WTF were they thinking. They were thinking the police are just another group to sell off the ticket holders too.
I mean because I’m connected I got a free ticket but seriously why would any one pay $100- $300 to go to a festival which is basically a command economy and fascist police state with no flushing toilets.
Forget Woodstock or Isle of Wight, there is no chance any current festival in this country will spark or be a magnet for counter culture, these places are just a place for hipsters and Trustafarians to preen them selves and strut around, its all really sad. It rather pay $25 for a private underground bush doof than a wank off festival.
Objections to a planned ISIS terrorist recruitment center (Mosque) in Bendigo have been discriminatory and racist, a lawyer for Bendigo Council has told Victoria’s planning umpire.
Security risk of Islamo-fascist fortresses.
Of the new islamic fortresses (mosques) initiated this year 100% are 0-10km from an airport/airfield/RAAF base.
And no one finds this is suspicious and worth ASIOs attention instead of the Local Councils rubber stamp?
• Mareeba (Marreeba airfield + 4hrs drive /short flight to Lavarack – Barracks &RAAF base Townsville),
• Penrith (Glenbrook RAAF base),
• Bendigo (mosque borders airport, 1hr drive/short flight to Puckapunyal Army & RAAF base), Currumbin (6km to GC Airport),
• Kalgoorlie Boulder (airport & explosives school),
• Sunshine Coast (Airport),
• Toowoomba’s first mosque opened this year & is 1 minute to the airbase that is home to 210 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets’ ! and a couple of minutes flight from there (33 mins by car) to Oakey Army Aviation base.
• I know they are building & enclaving in Tarneit/Truganina which happen to be adjacent to the RAAF bases at Laverton & Point Cook in Victoria.
I just can’t believe we aren’t treating this as hostile!
They are strategically positioning to take out many of our air defences & army bases.

Wednesday 29th October 2014
Open letter to the Prime Minister Mr Tony Abbott and the Defence Minister Mr David Johnston
The Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) bring together over 50 community based peace and justice organisations across Australia.
We wish to express our grave concern regarding the alleged actions of SAS personnel, towards a small group of peaceful protesters at Swan Island military base on the 2nd October.
It is our understanding the Swan Island Peace Convergence group has protested Australian involvement in foreign wars over the past 5 years with protesters treated lawfully and peacefully by the ADF and the Victorian Police Force.
We in the IPAN are concerned that the tactics used this time, which include hooding, stripping of clothing, physical and verbal violence from ADF personnel reflect the Australian government’s current policies which restrict civil liberties on the basis of the threat of terrorism to Australian citizens.
The actions of the ADF personnel are reminiscent of the treatment of prisoners in the Abu Ghraib prison in 2004 by US troops, and indeed correlate with a number of inquiries into treatment of civilians by ADF personnel during Australian military engagement in Afghanistan.
We ask, are our young men and women in the ADF being trained to commit war crimes?
When viewed in the context of the government’s decision to send Australian forces into Iraq for the 3rd time we express our concern that the people of our country are being constrained in their democratic rights to protest this engagement as it potentially grows into a major war.
The members of IPAN request that findings of the investigation by the Department of Defence into the actions of members of the ADF at Swan Island be made public.

Its hard to believe its been 3 years. Somehow it seems longer, somehow it feels shorter.
What has changed in that time, the federal government changed from Labour to Liberal and nothing changed for the better, because while a government allows a reserve bank to exist the reserve bank is in control, not the government.
We learned about the illogical and poisonous aspects of the political left.
We learned about how the political right are complete sold out to large corporations.
We learned about how the laws that give fiat currency value are just as corrupt and hollow as the fake money it supports.
We learned its an information war, a battle for the hearts and minds of the people.
We changed the conversation, we got people talking about things they never talked about before, or were even afraid to talk about.
We put up with a lot of hardships, the harassment from Victoria Police, Melbourne City Council, and agent provocateurs, it was tiring, cold , wet and messy and at times dangerous.
BUT, it was totally worth it.
We went through as lot to spread a message but it’s up to you to hear the message and act upon it accordingly.
Bendigo mosque wants to remove restrictions including opening hours, limits on political discussion and a cap on the number of worshipers.
Limiting political discussion in a mosque may be unconstitutional. Sorry I believe the Corneloup case set the precedent for the occupy case, the term burdening as not being interfering, but sure demand a double standard.
New South Wales
Liverpool, Sydney; mosque auctions ISIS flag for $2000. But they try to tell you they are not connected to terrorism.
Underwood, Brisbane; federal police raid Islamic bookstore, firearm seized, apparently a makeshift shooting range was inside. Nine other warrants executed in the Brisbane area.
Currumbin, Gold Coast; Mosque gets approval despite significant protest from locals.
Federal and state government
Terror level close to being raised. I wonder why?
Justice Flick, one of three appeal judges, said he had reviewed footage of the removal of the tent dress and was shocked by what he saw.
“Those who made the directions for this conduct to be pursued should be shot. It’s grossly offensive,” he said.

Remember a knife was cutting the tent apart just inches from the back of Kerrsions neck during the incident. This knife (called a tool by Victoria Police) was provided to MCC workers by Victoria Police during the incident. One of the council workers refused to take part in the incident and walked away, though the remaining MCC workers and police mindlessly abused the young woman by tearing away her clothes and leaving her in her underwear on the grass.
This incident occurred the day after Victoria police were humiliated by the original tent monster action which saw Kerrison and two other” tent monsters” run around the park and utterly demoralize Victoria police who felt like the fools that they were.
Clearly Victoria police don’t know the meaning of the phrase :”It’s all in good fun”
Your aren’t allowed to know about what you aren’t allowed to know about.
In a truly big brother move the Australian government is trying to keep the suppression of information order itself secret.
What is next is secret prisons and secret prisoners.
