I went to Rainbow Serpent Festival. Less than an hour later I left.

By the time they asked me for my ticket I was about to ask for a refund, the only reason I didn’t ask is because I knew they would refuse. I mean the place basically looks like a tarted up disaster relief camp. And just like a third world economy where one would expect such squalor, the rulers of it all were taking in about a million dollars a day. Worst of all the only thing that people weren’t being forced to pay for was using the toilets. Showers $4, after paying $100- $300 just to be there they want you to pay for a shower. That’s real third world warlord stuff right there. Just really greedy narrow minded pricks at the top.

Why is it so shit?

Basically its microcosm of the world around it, the organizers know no real alternative vision apart from lining their own pockets.

Private fiefdom and police state

They actually searched every car going in creating delays and basically being obtrusive. They absolutely refused anyone to be able to cook for them selves, no fires, no gas bottles.

Of course this is so they have a captive market for food stalls that they can get ground rent for. Absolutely no one could sell anything with out permission and paying the fee in order to do so.

Poorly organized

An hour waiting to get in.

Their schedule (a glorified excel spreadsheet) lists sunset at 5:30, really?

Overbearing  rude security guards

These fucktards seem to get off casually throwing out dictates at whim and generally mouthing off.

fuck off signs every where

After the onslaught of an hour waiting to get into the place the rude security guards and the fuck off signs seemingly everywhere ( artists only, organizers only) you then realize it nothing more than a small closed and controlled economy. The only respite from miserable oppression would be getting drunk and stoned, but sadly not even this is safe with police patrolling and waiting to pounce on people with drug and booze buses

Inviting the police to a festival where people like to use recreational drugs

WTF were they thinking. They were thinking the police are just another group to sell off the ticket holders too.

I mean because I’m connected I got a free ticket but seriously why would any one pay $100- $300 to go to a festival which is basically a command economy and fascist police state with no flushing toilets.

Forget Woodstock or Isle of Wight, there is no chance any current festival in this country will spark or be a magnet for counter culture, these places are just a place for hipsters and Trustafarians to preen them selves and strut around, its all really sad. It rather pay $25 for a private underground bush doof than a wank off festival.
