Occupy Christmas – Imagine A World Without Money

Yesterday we held our first Occupy Christmas free store at City Square, right next to Santa’s elves workshop. We will be there every Tuesday until Christmas and possibly beyond, sharing our treasures of books, jewellery, toys, clothes and inspired conversation. A lovely young lady offered me her unused parking spot near South Bank, to use when I needed it. Now that is sharing the spirit of Christmas!

  1. Santa’s elves were fascinated and took to the idea that they could be free from their mundane slavery, with a gusto second to none…
Capitalism will no longer ride on the backs of these (sla)elves… the beginning is nigh…

As was expected many people were initially surprised, but once the conversations began, all bar one,(yep one in every crowd) thought what was happening with the free shop and the ideas and issues raised and being challenged were great.

One such person who grabbed a book, said; ‘Thank you very much, I am broke and was worried as I was unable to buy my daughter a Christmas present’… So aside from the awareness campaign, the real spirit of Christmas,’giving’ to others who need it, without seeking reward… was achieved through people interacting where money wasn’t involved…
